stop having so many kids
sorry to be callous but the planet is already way above capacity, if we were a restaurant the fire department would shut us down.
Better use and conservation of water, less petrol-fertilizers, genetic engineering, etc. are all good ideas but can come nowhere near solving the problem of global hunger.
Historically overpopulation has always seen a reaction from the forces of natural selection; Plagues
In fact, most of us carry genes that render us immune to the plagues our ancestors survived.
A long term stategy is important and it will be necessary to tell people they do not have the right to procreate if they can’t provide for the offspring.
If we don’t address the problem, mother nature may have to do it for us and I don’t think anyone would like a serious pandemic to solve the problem.

I have this poster on my wall i think i have had it since the 1960′s so i remembered the speaches that went with it then when it came out and realized how somethings may not change so much.
Well, I partially agree with you.
Yes, we are too many, and people who say they want to have a big family sound very selfish to me. But that’s not all.
And it’s not just about food (actually, the fact that there are so many people is NOT the reason why some people are hungry today! There is food for everyone. The problem is, it all goes to like 1/3 of the people. Think about that, everytime you eat beef – one of the most important things to do if you care about the environment OR about the humanity is going vegetarian – or buy a supersize bucket of popcorn at the movies), but all resources. It is impossible for every person in the world today to have a refrigerator, for example.
(so how can we understand when do so many of our friends change their cellphone every six months or so?)
Also, wtf are you saying, “people do not have the right to procreate if they can’t provide for the offspring”? So, poor people are not allowed to procriate, but rich people can have a bunch of children to be spoiled brats buying all the phones and mp4 and clothes and cars and…? Listen to yourself!
Yes, limiting EVERYONE’s number of children seems like a good idea to me. But it’s a lot more urgent to change our own patterns of consumerism.
having many children IS the main pattern problem of our consumerism…
